Hybrid AHU

(Indirect Evaporative Cooling + Cooling Coil)

Improve Indoor Air Quality while reducing power consumption and providing year round comfort!

35% or more
outdoor air introduced

Up to 24%
energy savings compared to a conventional AHU

Precise control of temperature and RH

Suitable for all climatic conditions

HMX-Hybrid AHU (Air Handling Unit) combines the benefits of high proportion of fresh air – as high as 35% (pre-cooled by Indirect Evaporative Cooling) – but without an increase in energy consumption and without any compromise in the cooling provided.

HMX's Indirect Evaporative Cooling based Hybrid Air Handling Unit is ideally suited for centrally air-conditioned applications for commercial and industrial buildings. This solution can be incorporated in both new building designs and existing buildings.

FAQs

What is HMX Indirect Evaporative Cooling?
At the heart of HMX Indirect Evaporative Cooling is DAMA, a cross-flow plate type heat exchanger that separates the air into which moisture has been added to create cooling from the air that is supplied to the conditioned space. The end result is supply air that has had no contact with water and is cooled almost to the ambient wet bulb temperature.
Does DAMA add absolute moisture to air during Indirect Evaporative Cooling?
There is no increase in absolute moisture in the cooled air coming out of DAMA.
What is the difference between a conventional Air Handling Unit and HMX-Hybrid AHU?
Conventional Air Handling Units (AHUs) are generally designed to handle about 10% outdoor air. At times they may operate with an even lower outdoor air ratio in case the occupancy level of the conditioned space is higher than the assumed design level. Increasing the quantity of outdoor air is recommended for health reasons, but increases energy consumption significantly. HMX-Hybrid AHU (Air Handling Unit) combines the benefits of high proportion of fresh air – as high as 35% (pre-cooled by Indirect Evaporative Cooling) – but without an increase in energy consumption and without any compromise in the cooling provided.
What are the advantages of using HMX-Hybrid AHU?
  • Maintains a healthier indoor air quality.
  • Improves people productivity — no sick building syndrome.
  • Saves energy during heating periods.
  • Helps drive out harmful contaminants from the conditioned space.
  • Eliminates the use of complex technologies like recovery wheels.
  • Helps reduce carbon emissions.
Where can you install HMX-Hybrid AHU?
HMX-Hybrid AHU is ideally suited for centrally air-conditioned applications for industrial and commercial spaces. This solution can be incorporated in both new building designs and existing buildings. The design air flows can be customised to suit pressurisation and other requirements while maintaining similar levels of performance of the heat exchanger.
